Help Lana Get Life-Saving Treatment for Haemophilia
Don protégé
Hi everyone,
I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support for my close friend Lana, who is currently in critical condition and is in urgent need of life-saving treatment.
Lana has haemophilia, a rare bleeding disorder that he has lived with his whole life without any complications, until now.
Last week (August 11), Lana developed a deep muscle bleed, a complication of haemophilia. He was taken to a public hospital in Lombok, Indonesia but sadly during his stay he was denied proper care. For an entire week, doctors did not run the necessary tests, provide adequate pain relief, or treat the bleed. Lana was left in extreme pain, and his condition was deteriorating each day.
Because of a lack of early education and testing for haemophilia in Indonesia, Lana’s clotting factor type is still unknown. The test to determine this has been sent to Jakarta, Indonesia's capital city, and will take at least until August 19 for the results. The doctor at the public hospital informed us (August 15) that they were unable to give him any further treatment until these results come back and claimed Lana had received maximal treatment over the week he was there.
This morning, August 17, Lana was rushed to a private hospital as his pain had become unbearable and his condition was clearly getting worse. The doctors have since confirmed his diagnosis with scans and he finally has effective pain relief. He is currently receiving alternative therapies to help slow the bleeding and aid with clotting while we wait for his clotting factor test results.
However, scans also uncovered a stomach abscess, a serious complication likely caused by the week of delayed treatment in the public hospital. Lana’s condition is very serious, and he needs clotting factor treatment as soon as possible to survive and begin recovery.
The Cost of Care
We were informed today that the cost of Lana’s treatment, including clotting factor infusions, ongoing hospital care, and management of his abscess, is far beyond what Lana and his family can afford. Without financial help, they will be forced to deny him the treatment he needs.
Who Lana Is
If you ever visited Bumbum Beach Warung, you may know Lana. He worked as a barista, always greeting people with a smile, crafting their daily coffee or matcha, and greeting you like an old friend, even if it was your first time there. He’s a bubbly, kind, and loving soul, and his warmth has touched countless lives.
He remembered your order, your name, your dog’s name. He made people feel seen, welcomed, and part of something. Whether you were starting your day with a sunrise brew or winding down in the afternoon, Lana’s energy was a big part of the experience.
Why We Need Your Help
Lana has been failed by the public healthcare system, but we can come together to ensure he’s not failed by the people who love and support him. Every donation - no matter how small - goes directly to his urgent medical care.
Now he’s the one who needs support—and we’re hoping that all the love he’s poured into the community can be poured back into him.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
