Help Lana Along her Journey

Donation protected
Our names are Garrett and Ryan, we're from Toronto Ontario and the last year has been particularly challenging with our dogs health.

This is our 7 year old Boston terrier Lana. When she was adopted as a puppy, she was rescued from a puppy mill and had depodectic mange, a type of parasite which caused her to lose a great deal of her hair. Due to this, she required very frequent and expensive treatments to cure this skin disease, including medicated baths, skin scraping lab tests in addition to daily medications.

In November of last year, after several years of having a healthy and happy dog, we noticed her energy levels begin to greatly decrease. She wouldn't be excited when we would come home, she didn't want to go for walks or play, which was very unlike her. We brought up these concerns to our vet during her regular check up and sadly learned that she had a cancer tumour on her foot. At this point, we knew the best option was to have the surgery done and have the tumour removed, which was successful of removing the tumour.

Following the surgery, Lana never really bounced back to her normal self. She still was not as lively as she was and we knew that something was still not right with her. This was such a disappointment to us as we were expecting after taking on the huge cost of surgery that things would begin to improve and unfortunately that was not the case.

Just recently she had additional testing done to determine what was going on, and after bloodwork was completed we learned that she has Cushings disease which fit in line exactly with her symptoms including low energy, having accidents in the house, and bloated stomach. The first step in the treatment for this disease is an abdominal ultrasound which determines which type of Cushings she has which will then determine which treatment type is best for her.

The cost of the abdominal ultrasound is $600, and the cost of her treatments the vet is projecting about $4,000 a year, which includes daily medications as well as bloodwork every 3 months to ensure the dosages are not harming her organs. This is what we intend to use the donations through go fund me for.

We know that this is a challenging time as so many people have been effected by the pandemic but we feel that this is the time to ask friends and family for help with Lana's vet treatments, as we truly do need the help. Lana is more than just a pet to us, she is a member of our family and we would be devastated if anything were to happen to her. Every little bit helps and we are so appreciative in advance.

We are going to be using the money for the treatments that are required for her monthly which includes monthly medications as well as regular blood testing to ensure the medications are working. Any donations we receive in addition to the cost of her treatments will be donated to the Toronto Humane Society.

We are absolutely so grateful for any help that can be provided for Lana, whether it be a monetary donation or sharing the link to our go fund me.
