On Friday October 22, 2021, Lauren was hiking when her pack of furfriends alerted and guided her to what turned out to be an emaciated, neglected and abused darling little dog. He was trapped in a sealed dog carrier w/ no food or water. He was dumped where it would be very difficult to find.

Lauren’s heart was torn to pieces. She rushed the dog to Riverdale Veterinary Group where Dr. Fried and his staff spent over an hour examining and caring for him. They shaved painful intense matting that had created sores all over his body. They treated his eyes, which were sealed shut and encrusted with hair and puss. They gave him IV fluids and sent her home with a variety of helpful medications all for no cost!

The sweet little pupper looks like a baby lamb, so Lauren named him Lamp Chop after her favorite dog toy and children’s show. Lauren is very experienced with dogs. She has been smothering him in coconut oil and his sores are quickly healing. In the beginning, he needed hand feeding and variety of meds every other hour. Thank G-d he is improving every day. He is walking again, but it’s doubtful if he will regain his sight. He is slowly gaining weigh and his fur is starting to grow back. But there is so much more ahead for this poor abused dog.

There is no doubt this dog will need significant medical attention, at least for the next few months. He needs follow up veterinary visits and blood work. Lamb Chop is believed to be around 10 years old. When he was last seen by Dr. Fried, they were only looking for the most emergent issues. So, it is unclear what else will crop up as Lamb Chop continues to heal.

Lauren is an amazing dog trainer and dog walker, but she is not wealthy and without the generous help of others it will be difficult, if not impossible, for her to continue to give this dog all the care he needs and deserves. Lauren is not one to ask for help, but this money is not for her, it’s for Lamb Chop. Please help us get Lamb Chop the medical care and general care (including, but definitely not limited to food, wee-wee pads etc) that he will need for his recovery and possibly for the rest of his life.
