Hello, I am Lama Rouk and, A Palestinian student from Gaza with dreams as vast as our commitment to healing. I am a sixth-year medical student, at Al-Azhar University in Gaza. Months ago, I had a safe and happy life, going to university, until the war came and changed our lives, depriving us of security, safety, and the simplest necessities of life.

I had a simple, happy life before the war. I was in my final year of medical school, going to university and hospitals, studying hard, preparing for my coming years, trying to do my best to become a talented doctor in the future.

I used to do my best to make more achievements and to have a better future. But since the war happened, our life, efforts, and house were destroyed. Nothing now resembles our previous days. We have faced bad days, have nothing now, and have been living in a tent since October 2023—months full of death, fear, illness, displacement, and sadness. I don’t have any necessities of life.

But this doesn’t stop me from dreaming and continuing to look forward to a good life. I deserve to live good days and be in good situations. Days go on. The war forced me to think about leaving Gaza to continue my study and dreams and provide a safe life for me, away from fear and destruction. I still dream of finishing my final year and becoming a doctor to save lives. This is all we dream of. We deserve to have good days.

Help me evacuate Gaza safely to a peaceful place where I can continue my learning. Currently, the cost to leave Gaza is getting highly expensive (more than $5000 per person).
