Help Laly and family battle brain illness

Hi, my name is Leslie, I’m writing this petition on behalf of my elderly grandparents.

My aunt, whom we fondly call "Laly" suffers from a severe intellectual disability and brain dysfunction since she was a child, she can’t take care of herself and is fully dependent, living with my grandparents who lovingly take care of their “little girl”. 

My grandparents are Laly’s only caregivers and it has become gradually harder to take care of her.

My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer in November 2022 and has been in the hospital ever since; around the same time, my aunt Laly started having psychotic crises and convulsions, they usually get worse at night, and she does not sleep more than 2 hours at a time, she becomes aggressive and has attacked my grandmother multiple times, putting her at physical risk. February 12th, was the biggest crisis of all and it is with a broken heart that my grandmother has decided she cannot take care of both her sick husband and her disabled daughter, she can't longer provide the help and care that Laly desperately needs.

Unfortunately, public mental health in Mexico is almost nonexistent and the few resources available treat people like my aunt worse than prisoners. Her psychiatrist has recommended a private psychiatric clinic, but my grandparents don’t have the resources to pay for her stay until the psychotic crises are under control.

Unfortunately, I don’t live in the same country in order to physically help, and what is really desperately needed is financial help. I appeal to your generosity to raise some money and help cover the clinic expenses so Laly and my grandmother can be safe, and she can focus her energy on my grandfather’s health.
