Hello Everyone. My name is Julie Bolton and I am a 9th grade English teacher at Los Angeles Leadership Academy (affectionately known as LALA). I have been at LALA for 8 years and I have been with my amazing 11th grade Advisory students the entire time. We have gone through so much together and have grown very tight, but this year threw us for a loop. We learned on Monday that our high school will be closing at the end of this year due to lack of funding and low enrollment. This means my 11th graders who have been at LALA for their entire school career will have to go to a new and unfamiliar school for their last year of high school. They won’t share their last year together, and they won’t go to Grad Night at Disney together. This breaks my heart.

My fellow 11th grade Advisory teacher and I have a combined 37 students and we are trying to give our 11th graders a fun experience together and create memories they can take with them when LALA closes in June. We have decided to go to Six Flags and have budgeted for the tickets and transportation via bus, and the total is $3,500. It would mean so much to these kids who I have grown to admire, respect, and love to have a bonding experience leaving LALA with. ANY DONATION AMOUNT WILL BE APPRECIATED!!
