Hi, my name is Emily, and I’m fundraising to help Lakota, a wolfdog who needs what most people can’t give him: space and friends of his own kind.

Lakota is an incredible animal - smart, sensitive, and very much not a typical house pet. He needs room to roam, a secure outdoor setup, and ideally other wolfdogs around him so he can actually live the way he’s meant to.

The good news is: we’ve found a place for him in Washington (Roam Wolfdog Sanctuary) where he’ll finally have that - land, proper housing, and other wolfdogs to socialize with. The hard part is that we’re in Vermont, and getting him safely across the country is expensive.

I’m raising funds to cover transportation from Vermont to Washington and his housing costs once he gets there (secure enclosure, setup, and basic needs). Every dollar goes directly toward giving Lakota the safe space, proper environment, and community he deserves. If you can donate or share, you’ll be helping change his life in a very real way.

Below is the current travel cost estimate for getting Lakota from Vermont to Washington ourselves, with the math shown:

Itemized estimate (driving ourselves):

a) Trip basics: ~6,066 miles / ~45 hours of drive time. To keep it safe for Lakota, we’re planning ~4 hours of driving per day, so 45 ÷ 4 = 9.25 travel days.

b) Hotels (pet-friendly): hotels average ~$150/night (many also charge a pet fee).

$150 × 9.25 nights = $1,387.50

c) Lakota’s food (We Feed Raw): $9.66/lb, and he eats ~4 lb/day → $9.66 × 4 = $38.64/day.

$38.64 × 9.25 days = $357.42

Hotels + Lakota’s food = $1,387.50 + $357.42 = $1,744.92

d) Gas (14 MPG vehicle @ $3.30/gal):

Estimated gallons: 6,066 ÷ 14 = ~433.29 gallons

Estimated cost: 216.64 × $3.30 = $1,429.85

e) Tolls: ~$50.00

f) Our food (keeping it basic): we eat 2 times/day at about $15/meal → 4 meals/day total → $15 × 4 = $60/day.

$60 × 9.25 days = $555.00

g) Total so far (travel estimate):

$1,387.50 (hotels) + $357.42 (Lakota food) + $714.92 (gas) + $50.00 (tolls) + $555.00 (our food) = $3,779.77
