I’m Lakia, and I’m asking for help during one of the hardest times I’ve faced. About a month and a half ago, my brakes went out. I knew they needed to be fixed, but I simply did not have the money to repair them. Then after getting off work one day, I could not stop my car and had to crash into a gate to avoid something even worse. The accident damaged my front end and side door, and because I only had no-fault coverage, my insurance could not help. Since then, I have been without a car, and everything has started to fall behind. My water bill is now around $1,000, my electric bill is almost $700, and I am behind on my mortgage with another payment coming up. I work, but without a car, I cannot pick up extra shifts to make enough to catch up.

I am starting this fundraiser because I do not want to lose the home I own, and right now I have no help from family or friends. The funds will help me buy a car, pay off my water and electric bills, and catch up on my mortgage so I can start fresh and manage my bills on time again.
