If you have the privilege of knowing Lain, you have had the privilege of experiencing their perpetual kindness that extends to every soul they touch. They have a brilliant mind and a beautiful heart that unknowingly inspires those around them and it is a blessing to call them a friend.

Update from Lain:

“I wanted to update everyone about what's going on. A few weeks ago I started having a ringing in my L ear, and about 3 days ago I went to the ER because I noticed the R side of my face was partially paralyzed. At the time they diagnosed me with Bells Palsy, started treating me for it, and told me to follow up with my PCP. At the appointment my PCP got a gut feeling that something wasn't right and immediately sent me back to the ER for further testing. I don't know if we would have found this out if he hadn't insisted.

An MRI found a large tumor in my brain that's going to require relatively immediate surgery, which will take place sometime next week. Not a lot of other questions can be answered until it's removed and biopsied.

I'm doing okay all things considered and medically stable for the time being and my family is taking great care of me. I want to thank them for being by my side and supporting me. I also want to thank my sweet love AJ Patton for staying with me in the hallway of the ER for more than 7 hours while we waited for tests. I am so grateful to be loved by such amazing people.

Please surround them with the same love they surround me with as we go through this.

We are starting this fundraiser to help Lain with any medical expenses, and cost of living during this time as there are a lot of unknowns and they will need to take an unknown amount of time off of work to recover.

Lain is an exceptional care giver by nature and has used that gift in their profession as a nurse tech and resident aide with big plans to pursue a nursing degree at Montcalm community college. Now it’s our turn to help take care of them!
