Our beloved mother and grandmother, Ona Satinskienė, was born in the Alytus district of Lithuania and spent most of her life in the port city of Klaipėda. She dedicated many years to working at Smiltelės Middle School, where she was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Ona’s greatest joy was welcoming everyone into her home, cooking traditional Lithuanian meals, and filling the house with laughter and warmth. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of hard work, compassion, and faith, leaving a legacy of love that will live on in all who knew her.
Several years ago, Ona was diagnosed with dementia. Her daughter, Laima, brought her to Chicago to care for her full-time, tending to her every need with patience and devotion. Because of these caregiving responsibilities, Laima was unable to work. On a sunny September morning, Ona’s heart stopped, and she passed away peacefully, surrounded by love. Now, Laima faces the heartbreaking challenge of covering the costs of her mother’s funeral and burial. The funds raised will go directly toward funeral home services, casket and burial expenses, a cemetery plot and gravestone, and transportation arrangements.
There is an urgent need for support, as Ona’s body remains in storage at the funeral home until the necessary funds can be raised. We are reaching out to friends, family, and the Lithuanian community to help lay Ona to rest with dignity. Any amount you can give will make a meaningful difference. Žinutė iš Laimos: Iš gyvenimo išėjo mūsų mylima mamyte Ona Satinskienė, gimusi Alytaus rajone, visą savo gyvenimą pragyvenusi uostamiestyje Klaipėdoje. Dirbusi „Smiltelės“ vidurinėje mokykloje. Mama sirgo sunkia protine liga – demencija. Jos dukra atsivežė mamą į Čikagą, prižiūrėjo, globojo, gydė, maitino. Atsisakius judėjimui, tuo metu prisidėjo ir kitų ligų. Teko atsigulti į patalus pastoviam egzistavimui. Rugsėjo saulėtą rytą mūsų mylima mama, močiutė užgeso. Sustojusi širdis. Kadangi savo mamai teko būti globėja visus 7 metus, dėl šių priežasčių dukra negalėjo dirbti. Kad būtų galima išlydėti į paskutinę kelionę, dukra Laima prašo geros širdies ir sielos tautiečių paaukoti kiek kas gali. Iš anksto dėkojame visiems.
