Help Laid Off Contractor Pay Rent and Monthly Bills

Hello there, this is really difficult for me to share and even harder to ask for again.

My name is Christine Mangum. I lost my job in November. I was a contractor, and despite being treated like an employee, I was unfortunately denied unemployment. I've been driving Lyft, applying to every possible type of job, trying to pick up any kind of gig work (background, pet sitting, you name it), and even exploring legal options.

Some of you may know that this isn't the first time I've had to turn to GoFundMe. That's something I've carried with a lot of shame and frustration. I never imagined I'd be in this place again.

Right now, I'm behind on monthly bills, rent, and my car payments. And I'm at risk of losing the few things I rely on to keep working, like my phone and my car and ultimately, my housing. The amount I'm asking for would help cover my basic cost-of-living, like rent, utilities, and my phone (which I need for Lyft and job searching).

I am not usually someone who asks for help because there is always a weighted sense of guilt and embarrassment and wanting to be self-sustaining. I know these are very challenging times we're all going through, but truly, any help would mean the world right now.

There's still hope. There are opportunities I'm chasing. I just need that little bit of support to get through this stretch so I can try to reach them.
