The Story of Lady and Me

Hi, I’m Charmain. If you know me, you know Lady. She is more than just my dog; she is a piece of my heart. Lady is the daughter of my previous dog, and I have been by her side since the very second she was brought into this world nearly five years ago. To everyone in our local area, she is the happiest, friendliest soul you’ll ever meet.

The Nightmare of IVDD
On Wednesday evening, we went for our usual walk. By Thursday morning, Lady couldn't walk at all. She has been diagnosed with Type 5 IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease). This is a condition where the "cushioning" discs in the spine suddenly rupture and press against the spinal cord. It is a silent risk for breeds like French Bulldogs, and it happens in an instant.

A Perfectly Healthy Mind in a Failing Body
The most heartbreaking part of this is that Lady is still "her." Her mind is 100% alert and active, but she is currently trapped in a body that won't move. She is only 4 years old (turning 5 in October), and I cannot bear the thought of losing her because of a physical injury that can be fixed.

The Urgent Deadline: This Tuesday
We have a follow-up appointment this coming Tuesday. If we haven't found a significant amount of the funds for the operation by then, there is a devastating risk that the vets will suggest putting her to sleep.

The thought of putting a dog to sleep whose mind is still fully active and healthy simply because she is trapped in her body is unbearable. I am desperate to give her the chance she deserves.

How You Can Help
IVDD is a medical emergency that requires specialized care. To give Lady her life back, we need to fund:

  • Advanced MRI Imaging: To locate the ruptured disc (approx. £3,000).

  • Emergency Spinal Surgery: To remove the pressure on her nerves (approx. £4,000).

  • Specialist Consultations & Aftercare:.

Please, if you can donate even a small amount, it would mean the world to us. If you can’t donate, please share Lady’s story. Every share gets us closer to saving her life before Tuesday.

Thank you for helping me save my girl.
