On the morning of October 9th, Lacy went out to spend time with her beloved mare, Cheyenne. What she came upon, was a scene that no horse owner or animal lover should ever have to experience. Cheyenne had died under disturbing circumstances, leading law enforcement to open an active criminal investigation into what may be a deliberate act of cruelty.
Lacy is a combat veteran who proudly served 20 years in the U.S. Military before recently retiring. After giving so much of herself in service to others, she found healing, peace, and purpose in caring for her horse, Cheyenne. The horse was her grounding, steady companion through vastly changing conditions. This devastating loss has shaken every part of her world. On top of her grief, Lacy has recently been faced with instability due to unexpected health diagnoses and the loss of housing security. She’s currently living in her camper on family land while trying to rebuild a sense of purpose and stability, until this horrific loss completely shattered it. This land was meant to be a place of peace for her and her horse — a haven during a difficult period of transition. Instead, it has now become the site of an unimaginable loss. In the wake of this devastating event, Lacy is struggling with grief, trauma, and uncertainty about her future, all while trying to navigate challenges with her health and housing.
This fundraiser has been created by a friend of the family to help Lacy rebuild stability and hope during an incredibly difficult time. Funds will go directly toward any costs related to the loss of Cheyenne, stable housing and basic living expenses, increasing security measures to include updated locks, lighting and cameras, continuation of her pursuits in equine therapy and for her wellness and recovery support.
Lacy has given two decades of her life in service to her country and found healing in the love of horses. Now, she needs the community’s compassion and strength to help her recover from this terrible experience and to rebuild a solid foundation of peace. Let’s show her that compassion and community still shine even in life’s darkest moments.
Every donation — no matter the size — is deeply appreciated and will go directly to Lacy’s recovery, security, and future.
If you cannot give financially, please share this campaign to help spread support for her in honor of Cheyenne during this devastating time.
Thank you for standing beside her in compassion, courage, and love.
