Help Lachlan Compete in 2025 US Adaptive Open Golf Major !

Hi, my name is Lachlan Wood, and I’m Australia’s #1 ranked Golfer with a Disability.

Golf grabbed me young. I was 12 when a mate’s passion rubbed off on me, and from that moment, I was hooked. By 15, I was playing off a 3 handicap, representing in Men’s Pennants and District Interstate events, and winning titles. My mum even rented a house beside the local course so I could practise every day. Life felt full of momentum. Full of promise.
Then everything changed.

In October 2007, at just 16, I was in a high-speed car accident that flipped the car and shattered my left leg in 44 places. I remember the smell of petrol, the crunch of glass, and the panic of clawing my way out through a broken windscreen. Two weeks later, I woke up in intensive care with injuries that would reshape my life.

What followed was brutal… over 30 surgeries to save my leg. I lost a quarter of my body weight. Muscle grafts, metal plates, external frames, and relentless rehab became my new normal. I spent a year without putting my leg below waist height. Even then, doctors said I might lose it. But somehow, I kept it. It’s shorter now, fused in places, and I’ll wear pressure garments for life, but I kept it.

I snuck in a few swings here and there, once even breaking par with a frame still on my leg. But the physical and mental toll took over. I walked away from golf for nearly a decade.

In 2018, I moved to Queensland and picked up the clubs again. I wasn’t sure if I could really compete, but I rediscovered the joy, the challenge, and the healing power of golf. In 2023, I found All Abilities golf, and everything changed.

Since then, I’ve been fortunate to win major All Abilities titles across Australia and New Zealand and became the first All Abilities golfer to win a PGA Pro-Am event. I’m currently ranked #1 in Australia and #4 in the world (WR4GD Gross), I finished second at the 2025 G4D Open and I’m currently working towards the U.S. Adaptive Open, with the dream of reaching world number one, and winning a major.

But I’m not just chasing wins. I’m here to push boundaries… mine, and the sport’s. To prove that disability and elite performance can coexist. To advocate for better support, more visibility, and real opportunity in All Abilities sport. Every time I tee it up; I carry the scars of what I’ve survived and the belief in what’s still possible.
This isn’t just a comeback. It’s a mission. And I’m just getting started.

Your support will help cover travel, tournament fees, equipment, and training as I continue this mission. This isn’t just a comeback. It’s a movement. And I’m just getting started.
