I am hard of hearing, and while hearing aids help, I still miss a lot of speech and struggle with conversations. I’ve been told I’m not yet a candidate for cochlear implants, and I’m not deaf enough for a hearing service dog. Learning American Sign Language has been helpful, but only with others who know it. Navigating daily life is difficult, and I often feel isolated in social situations. I’m hoping to get caption glasses, which aren’t covered by insurance and are expensive, but they could make a huge difference for me.

Caption glasses would help me in school with live captioning, allow me to better understand my stepson, and help me communicate with my mother-in-law by translating languages. They would also help me feel more comfortable at social events, caption background noises so I can be aware of my surroundings, and alert me to things like timers or appliances finishing. These glasses would give me more independence and help me be a better wife, daughter, sister, friend, and bonus mom.

It would be life-changing if I could have these caption glasses so I can have captions hands-free without looking rude looking at my phone! Due to a medical emergency back in November of 2024, my family and I are still financially recovering from hospital bills. It would mean the world to me and my family to have your support. Any help you can give would be deeply appreciated and could be the missing link I need to feel more included and confident every day.
