Lacey came into our life in December 2024, after her previous owners could no longer care for her. She had been severely abused as a puppy, which left her with high anxiety and lasting structural damage. When we adopted her, I received all her records and hoped she would finally have a safe, loving home. For a while, everything seemed okay, but by May of 2025, Lacey started having issues with her teeth and bad breath. I took her to the vet, got blood work done, and had her teeth cleaned. Unfortunately, she needed eight of her smaller teeth removed, and we continued to monitor her other teeth.

Fast forward to early February 2026, and Lacey began losing teeth again. Her breath worsened, but she was still eating, drinking, and acting like herself. Concerned, I brought her back to the vet, where they discovered a large hole in her mouth, exposing her sinuses. This was absolutely devastating to not only hear, but also see. While I’ve done just about everything that I possibly could, there were still underlying issues that were out of my control. The vet believes this is likely due to the abuse she endured early in life. Now, Lacey needs urgent surgery to repair the damage and prevent further complications. As a single mother, I don’t have the funds to cover this surgery, follow-up care, and any additional medications she might need. She is currently on a mouthwash, antibiotics, and steroids. The antibiotics will continue into next week. Lacey does have a follow-up appointment with her vet this Friday.

I’d like to thank everyone in advance for reading our story and for any support you can give. Your help will allow me and her vet team to continue providing Lacey with a healthy and safe environment for the rest of her years. She’s eight years old, and I hope we can have her for many more years, giving her the loving home she deserves after such a rough start in life.
