Help Lacey get Special Needs Yoga Training

Through my life I have gathered random experiences and skills that are crystallizing in way that is starting to make sense. After teaching drums at a local music school for a while, I started getting students that I prefer to call "differently abled." I had students with autism, Down Syndrome, and other learning differences that required a unique approach. Soon I became sort of a designated special needs drum teacher and became hooked on helping students of all abilities express themselves musically. I ended up going deeper into the world of autism education as a tutor for college students with autism and related disorders. I started to ask myself "who else can I teach?" which led me to my current job at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired as a residential music teacher. All the while I have been a dedicated yogi and have experienced the emotional, physical, and mental healing of yoga in my own life. For a while I have been wanting to combine my passion for working with students with different needs with my love of yoga. I feel students need yoga more than ever during this time. I have finally found a training that I feel will prepare me to present yoga in a safe and thoughtful way to students with different needs that also has a trauma-informed approach.
Through my journey in working with all kinds of students I have learned that everyone deserves to have access to the same activities regardless of perceived ability. Please help me bring yoga to some people who really need it.
Namaste!!!
