Help Lacey and Bex

Hi one of our dear friends and family is in need of our help.
In our world, you need money simply to survive. Without it, you will be unhoused, you will be unfed, and you will be unsafe. Most of us find a way to earn enough to get by most of the time. It’s not a great life, but it works… until disaster strikes.
Disaster has stricken my friend, Hilary aka Lacey. She had something called IIH that raised the pressure in her brain to 60. Normal is under 20. They couldn't get it down, so they did brain surgery to place a shunt to siphon off the fluid. She’s projected to be out of work for the next 3 months minimum. Bills are piling up, she requires assistance with almost everything, and short-term disability hasn't kicked in yet. When it does, it won’t be nearly enough to keep her afloat. Disability always pays less than we earn when we’re working, and most of us barely make it on full time pay.
As it is, she is losing her sight rapidly. This is a common result of IIH. She requires a walker to get around, and she’s still in her 30s. I don’t even want to think about what will happen as she ages if she can’t get this fixed. Her world is becoming darker both literally and metaphorically.
It would be wonderful if we lived in a world that would allow us to survive while we are unable to work, but that isn’t this world. She needs help. She needs lots of help. The doctors are telling her she will be unable to return to making money for as much as 7 months. Without help, she and her wife will be unable to continue to have a place to live. No landlord on the planet is going to tell her she can wait 7 months to pay rent again. Once they lose their home, the dominoes will begin to fall, and they will be reduced to a condition that terrifies any rational person.
We’re asking for your help. Hilary needs money for rent, for food, for car payments, for gas, for insurance, and even to keep her bank account open so she can continue to get help from people who care. This is not a situation in which she did something stupid that makes the condition her fault. It can happen to any of us at any time.
She’s experiencing the horror of watching her sight go. She’s trying to learn to move around with a walker. We can’t fix those things. We can, however, at least make sure she has a home in which to try to survive her condition. We can help put food on the table. It’s what we do as human beings. We care for each other when our system abandons us.
If you could throw in even a few dollars, it will make more difference than you probably think. The goal is $10,000 (which, for 7 months of life, is a remarkably small number), and every dollar counts. I know none of us are wealthy enough to just give someone all they need, but if everyone does a little, we can save her. It’s what humans do.
Can you help with a few dollars? Can you share this with some of your friends who might also be able to chip in a little? Thank you for showing your humanity. Let’s help those who need it this time.
Since this was written it has gone to her right eye and she has lost sight in that eye.
