On December 23rd, our family’s beloved La Central Bakery in Oxnard experienced a devastating fire. As the oldest bakery in Oxnard, La Central has been a cherished part of the community for generations—serving families, friends, and neighbors for longer than most of us have been alive. The fire has forced the bakery to close its doors for at least a month, leaving everyone who works there suddenly out of work during a time when small local businesses are already facing so much uncertainty.

Carlos P. Rodriguez, my father-in-law, and Gator Rodriguez, my brother-in-law, have poured their hearts into La Central Bakery, making it a welcoming place for all. Now, they and the entire bakery team are facing the challenge of rebuilding, repairing the damage, and supporting their employees through this difficult period. The loss of income and the costs of repairs are overwhelming, but we know the strength of our community can make a difference.
