Help Ky's Golden Heart

This is Sydney and Johnathan's sweet boy Ky. He is silly, wild, adventurous, kind, happy, fearless, hilarious and so very loving. He warms everyone's heart with his infectious smile and personality.

Last Monday Ky developed a cough. The cough got worse throughout the week and by Saturday, Sydney and Johnathan took him to urgent care to get checked out. He was diagnosed with walking pneumonia, given antibiotics and sent home. The following days he started having trouble breathing and went back to urgent care where they did a breathing treatment. When the breathing treatment didn't help, his parents made the decision to take him to the ER. There they found he had an inflamed heart and was transferred to the Pediatric ICU in Beverly Hills.

In the last few days, he has received an Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation procedure (ECMO) to increase oxygen in his blood & they have cut a small hole in his heart to relieve some of the pressure.

The ECMO machine is currently doing half of the breathing for Ky to give his body time to heal and strengthen back to full function. Sydney and Johnathan have made sure he is getting the best care available and he is being monitored 24/7 by several doctors and nurses.

He was put in paralysis, and his parents have been playing him music, telling him stories and holding his hand. He's given them a couple finger wiggles to let them know he is listening. We know having them near gives him all the comfort in the world.

A sick child is one the hardest & helpless cards a parent can be dealt. While we are so proud of the strength Sydney and Johnathan have shown through the last 10 days, we know the unexpected medical bills are going to be another hurdle to overcome. Anything you can donate to the Golden family during this trying time will be appreciated from the bottom of ALL of our hearts. They are truly some of the most genuine, kind, loving people you could ever meet, and all their friends and family are heartbroken standing by watching them endure so much.

We know Ky will be okay because he is the toughest little boy we've ever known, but he has a long road ahead of him.
