Hey, my name is Kyrie (Kiran) Dunning. I've wanted to create books since I was eight years old, and I have the rare opportunity to attend NYU's Summer Publishing Institute. I was accepted among hundreds of applicants to attend this 4-week intensive program in New York City, but I can't afford the $6,000+ fee. I'm asking for financial help to achieve my dreams.

I graduated with my B.A. in English from Cal Poly Humboldt, founded my university's Creative Writing Club, and worked as a student assistant for my university's publisher. But publishing jobs are extremely competitive and hard to come by--if you're not in NYC or don't already have a connection, it's nearly impossible to get a job. NYU's Summer Publishing Institute would allow me to network in the heart of the publishing world and get me one step closer to my dream of being an editor.

At the Summer Publishing Institute, I'll be touring major publishing houses like HarperCollins, Variety, and Macmillan. I'll be meeting and learning from industry professionals, learning content creation and marketing strategies, and earning credits towards my Master's in publishing.

Funds raised from this GoFundMe will go towards the costly tuition ($4,700), housing ($470 per week), and living expenses (food, transportation, etc).
