Kyren thought he had faced all of his medical challenges as he was born with a rare condition called Microtia and began getting surgeries at the age of 5 to create an ear. By all regards, Kyren has been living the life of a typical 17-year-old, preparing for his High School Graduation and enjoying videos games. However, on 1/31/22 Latrice took Kyren to the Doctor for his asthma as he had a lingering cough. and the words she heard next are those no parent should ever hear " Your Child has Cancer." Immediately Kyren was admitted to the PICU at UC Davis, where is has been getting excellent care and diagnosed with T cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, a rare form of aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The treatment plan for this type of cancer consists of intense chemotherapy for 18-36 Months. In other words... the typical life for this 17-year- old has changed, but he is a fighter, and he will not fight alone!!
Devastated, shocked, and numb, Latrice could only think of her sweet baby boy, Kyren Caluya, her Leo baby, her king of the jungle, the most precious, most loving, caring, and respectful 17-year-old is in for his biggest battle yet.. when he should be at home, playing video games and getting ready for his high school graduation.
Kyren had also lost both his fraternal grandparents and maternal grandfather within two months of each other, and those were some of Kyren’s hardest goodbye’s,
This medical emergency has placed a HUGE financial strain on his mother as Latrice cannot work, as the medical team is asking her to stay by Kyren's side while he is in the Intensive Care Unit; thus, Latrice needs to devote all her time to care for Kyren and her young daughter Kamille.
Therefore this wonderful family needs the help of our community, and no donation is too small to help this family manage thru this tumultuous time.
Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated, and if you cannot donate monetarily, please keep Kyren in your thoughts and prayers as he is in for a long battle.
