Help Kyra Get to Free Fringe!

Let me tell you about it: "Witch is a devised collaboration piece detailing the position of women throughout history and the predisposition for outspoken women to be labeled as "witches". This play follows in the tradition of strong women who stood up for themselves in a society that often deems their experiences unimportant. The main through-line of the piece would be centered around survivor narratives. The piece would fall into surrealist genres and would play into various mediums such as poetry, dance, comedy, and the re-appropriation of traditional theater pieces. Characters in the show are interpretations of the lives of famous "witches" throughout history. In doing this, we aim to educate our audience about the interesting and unique lives and stories of real and fictional women.

We want to do a show that references the history of the world and how it has evolved to now. Currently, it seems as if the world is in a pressure cooker. The binaries that our world is built upon are growing stronger and more exclusive, the social web between people is disintegrating when it should be kevlar strong. In these moments of disintegration, art has the responsibility to represent the truth. In an increasingly individualistic world, theater is a collaborative art form equipt to combat the erosion of community. We aim to provide a place in which our audience can practice how to be active listeners in the face of another’s testimony, how to practice the act of witnessing.”

Here’s the juicy part: We are a group of creators of mainly UCLA Theater students. We have the show running from August 4th-August 25th EVERYDAY at 2:45 pm.

The Free Fringe is non-profit, and we cannot sell tickets, so this is the one of MANY promotional tasks we will be taking on to get this show off the ground. We are asking for donations (and I am personally asking for donations) to offset expenses because not only are we poor artists, we are poor college student artists. A portion will be going to charities that focus on the empowerment of women throughout the globe. We need financial help to get our cast there and to house them and any other

Here’s where I NEED you: Friends, family, random people I am sending this to, as some of you know I am about to graduate college next week. This opportunity is a dream come true. Unfortunately, I am coming out of a 4 year ever increasing hole of debt from my degree. Here is a link to help support my personal funds (aka just flights):

Any amount helps! As my mother knows, I get real creative on any small amount of money. I am also working 3 jobs while going after my acting career so I can take time off to live in Scotland. I will repay you in a dance, a kiss, a drink, you name it!
