Help Kylor Get Her Life-Saving Alert System

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Courtney. I'm raising money for an alert system for my daughter Kylor. Kylor was diagnosed last year with epilepsy. Her first seizure was one of the scariest days of my life as a parent. Finding out she would have to live with this condition was heartbreaking as a mom, knowing my daughter will always have to be extra careful to not trigger a seizure.

Doing simple things like running, jumping, and climbing—all things a child should be allowed to do—she now has to be extremely careful. Her seizures are being treated by medication; however, there is always a situation that could set off a seizure. One of the most common causes is a simple cold/virus. Her most recent seizure, they believe, is from her having a virus in her system that lowered the threshold of her medication, causing the seizure to come on. This happened at approximately 4 a.m. while everyone was asleep. We were very lucky that her older sister had woken up, knew she was having one, and was able to get to me so I could assist Kylor during it.

The alert system we are looking at isn't currently working with insurance, so we would be responsible for the full amount. This alert system is a watch that has been FDA approved, and her neurologist recommended us getting it for her for safety reasons. This watch monitors her oxygen level and her blood pressure, as well as body movement, being able to pick up when she is seizing. It will then send me a notification that she is about to have a seizure or that she is having one so I can get to her as quickly as possible.

We would save to get this for her, but we are hoping to get it as soon as possible, and we also are in the process of investing in padded flooring for her bedroom because one of her signs of a seizure coming on is she will walk around completely unaware of what's going on and then she will drop to the floor. We are trying to prevent any injuries from happening during this. Our future goal is to eventually get her a service dog that will not only alert her but anyone who is with her that she has one coming on. At this time, we are unable to do that until we move. So for now, the watch would allow Kylor to be safe and give us some reassurance while she is asleep or at school that she will be OK and we can get to her quickly.

I know times are hard for everyone, so if you're unable to donate, I completely understand and just ask for you to share if possible. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this.
