Hi everyone. If you know me, you know my big, sweet, and loving boy Kylo. In light of Kylo's recent 5th birthday, I shared a brief post on Facebook in which I touched on all of the medical issues Kylo has endured in just these short 5 years. In case you missed it, they include 2 ACL surgeries, and his most recent, a stroke on his spine (FCE).
I wish I could say that Kylo's challenges ended there; however, just within these past few weeks, Kylo began to take a turn for the worse. After making an initial phenomenal recovery from the stroke, Kylo suddenly became fully paralyzed in his hind legs once again. Several trips to the vet/emergency vet landed us at Cornell Animal Hospital where Kylo was diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disk Disease). Kylo’s case was considered severe and required emergency surgery for there to ever be a chance he walks again.
My heart is absolutely crushed. This news was beyond devastating and completely broke us as we thought our boy was over the hump and past his worst days. Between all of the testing, MRI, surgery, treatment and stay, we were quoted an overwhelming $10,000. Christian and I absolutely hate asking others for help. We pride ourselves in busting our asses to make things work so that we don’t ever have to inconvenience anyone else. We have put every last dime of our savings towards this, but unfortunately this time we’re still coming up short. So as much as it pains us to have to ask others for help, we’ve decided we have no choice because there is not a single thing in this world we wouldn’t do for this dog. Life has been so incredibly unfair to the most innocent, loving boy. Kylo deserves the world and if you’ve had the privilege of meeting him, I know you can attest to that. Please do not feel obligated; a share of his story helps just as much. We cannot thank you enough for your support and help towards Kylo’s journey.
With love,
Izabella & Christian
