Help Kylie's recovery from gymnastics accident

Donation protected
This is Kylie's journey through her Gymnastics accident thus far.   Kylie started Gymnastics and made it to the JO level 4 on her first year.  She wanted to go all the way to JO level 10.   Kylie put her heart and soul into gymnastics.  On Tuesday Feb 19th, she was practicing in preparation for a gymnastics competition the next weekend.  Unfortunately Kylie had an accident falling from the High Bar during one of her routine practice runs. Kylie fell and broke both of her radial heads (your radial heads control the full function of your elbow and forearm).  At that moment,  she felt her dreams crumbling in an instant because of he fear her elbows may not even grow because of the significance of where the breaks were located.  The doctors' concern was magnified due to this additional finding as well.  Kylie was referred to Shriners staff of surgeons to review the X-rays in hopes to perform the very delicate surgery saving her growth plates.   Through it all, Kylie was in complete shock from the fall and scared.   Dealing with the pain she felt in her arms made her feel as of her her dreams were shattered.  She said many times that she was  scared because of the concern her arms would never function normally.  As a result, both radial heads in the elbow were broken and surgery was needed.  Surgery was completed the following day.  She soon  overcame her feeling of despair once the surgeries were performed and the surgeons at Shriners told her she had a successful double surgery and was a joyful patient to work on.   It was a difficult 3 weeks in two full arm casts for Kylie.  Joy came once those casts were removed and moving towards the completion of the first path to recovery.   The left elbow had completely healed but an X-ray showed the right elbow was healing in the wrong direction, thus limiting full range.  A second surgery was required.  It consisted of two precise cuts in the bone, utilizing multiple screws  and a plate to make sure proper regrowth of the joint. This surgery was very hard and muscle dystrophy started to set in and her loss of strength made Kylie feel depressed, alone, sad, and in her words trapped. This journey was difficult for Kylie because it further delayed rejoining her gymnastics team.  Five (5) months later Kylie was feeling pain and discomfort again, so an  X-ray was performed and showed bone overgrowth.  At that time, doctors decided on a third surgery for reconstruction (to shave down) of the joint.  At that time, they removed the screws and plate. The rest of her journey has included  constant therapy at home and at clinics.  It has been torturous to continue to ask Kylie to endure pain in stretching. The hardest for all working on Kylie is when she cries out in pain knowing she has to endure it to gain the flexibility again.   It has been painful and emotional for a 13 year old to experience.  Her year and a half road to recovery is still not complete but the end is near.  Her perseverance, faith and courage has been challenged but she is learning how to overcome the obstacles and continues to rise above. It has been a journey through the tears and the days when she didn't even want to get out of bed, refusing therapy because she just could not endure it at that moment.  She had to have the right mindset. The pain she felt, the pain she still feels is only a moment and she knows she wants her arm back so she continues on to gain VICTORY throughout the TEARS.  This has been a hard ride to be on and hopefully it will soon come to an end. Hospitals are expensive, surgeries are even more expensive, and the year & a half of all therapy is mind blowing.  Unless one goes through a recovery plan like this its hard to fathom all resources needed for this recovery.  The injury Kylie experienced, is an injury that takes a while to heal and a lot of physical/ occupational/message therapy and EMDR.    3 Surgeries, 4 hospital stays, PT 3 times a week, MT 2 times a week, OT twice a week, and  sessions of  EMDR for the PTSD from the fall; Kylie is still working hard to be able to regain movements.  A  donation as soon as possible to help Kylie's family with her medical bills would help to continue with her therapy.  It is hard to come to reality and humble ones self to ask for help.   Covid-19  greatly effecting Kylie's family as they are  deemed as an unessential worker.  A  decrease in pay has hit the family hard and  financial help today would be forever remembered and appreciated.  It is hard to ask others for help because pride gets in the way; but, humility has been taught through-out this healing process.   The family has come to realize, Insurance only covers so much and most of therapy is out of pocket.   The family is on payment plans with all medical facilities and they are adding up overwhelmingly causing even more hardship to Kylie and family.   The family knows now they cannot do this on their own anymore.  So they are reaching out to other family, friends, and others that can relate to an injury like this one for financial help.  Also, please pray for Kylie's continued  healing and mindset to continue to work hard.  Thank you and many grateful hearts go out to you for helping with Kylie's healing process. Donations  will be forever remembered.  For we declare towards the contributors that God would provide blessings multiplied, 7 fold, upon you and yours.
