If you've met Kylie, you know that she doesn't really like the spotlight, or a lot of attention to be on her. If you've never had the privelige to meet her, just know that you are missing out, because behind her quiet voice and smile, is one of the kindest and strongest girls you will ever meet.
We all knew that Kylie was a fighter after being born at just 24 weeks and overcoming incredible odds to leave the NICU, but once again, Kylie was faced with the fight of her life, after being diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer, on March 14th, 2023.
Just two days after her diagnosis, Kylie began her first round of chemotherapy. Each time she goes in for a treatment, she spends a minimum of three days in the hospital. As you can imagine, this alone has been taxing on her and her family.
In addition to her aggressive chemotherapy treatments, Kylie recently underwent a major twelve-hour surgery on May 29th, 2023, which came with the potential risk of a leg amputation. Miraculously, not only did the surgery go incredibly well, but they were able to remove 99% of the tumor without having to remove anything else! (Praise God!)
Despite beating all of the odds, Kylie still needs to undergo mulitple rounds of aggressive chemotherapy until September, 2023. This has required Kylie and her family to travel over an hour each way for every single appointment, multiple times a week, with numerous hospital stays each month.
As you can imagine, the cost of travel, food, medical expenses, special accomodations, comfort measures, and surprise needs that arise is adding up quickly.
We know that eventually, financial needs will likely increase as hospital and treatment bills begin coming in, but for now, we are hoping to at least help cover basic monthly living expenses for Kylie and her family through September.
Being able to reduce or eliminate the financial stress for Kylie and her family as they continue on this fight is one of the biggest blessings we can give them during a time that is nothing short of a nightmare. Every dollar given means one less thing that they need to worry about.
