Help Kyle Farrell with Expenses - Car Accident
Last Sunday (3/5/23), Kyle Farrell left The Dalles for his home in Condon, Oregon. He was nearly home when his vehicle hit ice and went off a steep embankment. Disoriented and injured, he climbed up a hill in the wrong direction and once he got to the top, lost his balance and fell back down the hill. He laid there all night in 20-degree weather until highway maintenance found him Monday morning. He was taken to a local hospital for a few hours and then brought to OHSU Portland where he's been in the ICU. The injuries he sustained were a broken neck (still has sensation but is not able to move his right arm/hand/fingers), reduced mobility in his right foot, and frostbite with reduced mobility on his left foot. Doctors completed an occipital fusion on his neck/skull and will eventually perform surgery on his foot.
Kyle moved from Ohio to rural Oregon last year to work as a music instructor for a non-profit that supports schools that have experienced cuts in their art and music budgets. He hosts a radio show in Fossil, OR on Thursdays, provides music lessons locally, is a member of the local art council, and spends his free time learning new instruments.
I’m Juliana, a close friend of this wonderful guy. I’m hoping to help raise funds to support his recovery from this horrific accident. Any amount will help.
A note from Kyle: "These recent events have shown me that the community in Condon reaches to an even farther depth than I could have even initially anticipated, because of the outpouring of support through these messages and cards and visitors. They imbue me with the strength to heal. You all are doing exactly what you say, and your actions are bringing me closer to healing. And I can't wait to be back in town."
All funds raised will go towards Kyle's medical bills, necessary future care, and hopefully a new (super safe) vehicle.
