If you've ever ridden with McMinnville Ashram Rides, there's a good chance you've crossed paths with Kyle Watson—our Lead Administrator, premier driver, ride coordinator, and unofficial team therapist (whether you asked for advice or not).
On September 30th, Kyle will be trading in his well-used shoulder for a brand-new one—because apparently, carrying this whole operation on his back literally has consequences. Then, just as he's healing up, his amazing wife Shannon will undergo her own surgery in the second week of December.
Kyle will be out of work for 3 to 6 weeks post-surgery (and yes, we've already warned him: no fishing during recovery—doctor's orders). After that, he'll be off for another 2 to 4 weeks to care for Shannon—because he's not just a great driver, he's also a great husband.
In all seriousness, Kyle is the heart of our Isha rides community. He coordinates affordable travel, picks up and drops off guests at all hours, and somehow still remembers everyone's name, story, and favorite seat in the van. He gives selflessly, drives endlessly, and smiles constantly—even on those 4 a.m. airport runs.
Now it's our turn to support Kyle and Shannon during this temporary detour. Medical costs and time off work can pile up faster than the ride request list during a Samyama 8-day retreat, and they could use a little help navigating this stretch.
Whether you give a little or a lot (or just send snacks—Kyle likes peanut butter), every bit helps take the pressure off so they can focus on healing.
Thank you for supporting two people who've given so much to all of us. And don't worry—Kyle will be back on the road in no time, probably trying to drive before he's supposed to (someone please hide his keys).
With love (and laughter),
