Hi everyone,
On Monday, April 27th, 2026, Kyle was involved in a traumatic, life-altering workplace accident that resulted in a severe spinal cord injury. Since then, he has undergone major surgery to stabilize his spine and has been in critical care, first in the Neurology ICU and now in a neurosurgery step-down unit.
Kyle has also faced additional complications, including a stroke, and is currently fighting through a very difficult and uncertain recovery. We are taking things day by day and doing everything we can to support him.
Kyle has been an ironworker since he was 17 years old, and it truly shows in everything he does. He is the hardest worker I know—always willing to help anyone who needs it and the kind of person who takes the time to teach others on the job. He’s built a reputation for being someone people can rely on, with knowledge and experience beyond his years. He’s done everything from ironwork to crane operating and everything in between—he truly is a jack of all trades.
More importantly, Kyle is an incredibly caring husband, son, brother, friend, and cat dad. He is truly one of a kind.
This has turned our lives upside down overnight. Between his medical needs, time away from work, and the many unknowns ahead, we are facing significant emotional and financial challenges.
We are based in Buffalo, and Kyle is currently receiving care in Rochester, which has meant frequent travel back and forth, long days on the road, and the added cost of hotels and meals while staying close to him.
We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we have already received from our family, friends, coworkers, the Hornell community, and the ironworker and construction community. Your kindness and support mean more to us than we can put into words.
We’ve also received so many messages and offers of support, and while we may not be able to respond to everyone right now, please know that we see them and truly appreciate each and every one.
We are creating this fundraiser to help with:
- Immediate and ongoing expenses
- Loss of income during recovery
- Travel, meals, and time spent at the hospital
- Future rehabilitation and care needs
We don’t know what the road ahead will look like yet, but we do know it will be long. Any support—whether through donations or simply sharing this page—means more to us than we can put into words.
Thank you for keeping Kyle in your thoughts.
With gratitude,
Marybeth
