On behalf of our family we would like to thank the community and friends for helping us get to Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) with Dr. Harch in Louisiana. With your donations we were able to cover the cost of 25 dives out of 40, travel expenses and living expenses. We have seen the wonders that HBOT can do for anoxic brain injuries, we can attest to this because this therapy woke Kyle’s brain up. We are hoping to get Kyle to more therapy that will help optimize his recovery including a hyperbaric home chamber, functional neurologist, laser light therapy, stem cell therapy and MNRI therapy. Your donation will help us with these healing modalities! I will list the cost of each therapy below. *insurance does not cover the costs of any therapy listed.

Update on Kyle: Since we have gone a few months without HBOT we are noticing Kyle having increased tone and episodes of spastic movements because the therapy serves as a medication, halting may result in him regressing. We want to continue his progress. We are currently transitioning his diet from formula to a whole food blended diet where he will be fed through the G tube along with medical grade fish oil and his vitamins. He still has the tracheostomy but have been doing a decent job of clearing his airways. He is still non verbal and not walking but have been weight bearing in a standing position at PT. He is smiling more!

Kyle’s story: Our energetic, loving and Happy 6 year old suffered from a Non-fatal drowning on August 11, 2023 at a pool party. The phone call that changed my life forever. It is unclear how long he was underwater as everyone was looking for him around the pool area. Unable to identify him at the bottom of a “cloudy”and unkept pool. CPR was started immediately by his dad until paramedics took over. Kyle spent about 55 days in the PICU following his accident. Drowning caused him respiratory failure, anoxic brain injury which led to him Developing a dystonic/myoclonic movement disorder. He was on a ventilator for a great portion of his stay until he underwent surgery for a tracheostomy, he also underwent surgery to have a GJ tube inserted which is still in place today. Kyle went from being responsive to little responsiveness if any during his hospital stay. After discharge from PICU Kyle wasn’t tracking or making eye contact and was in a low state of consciousness. We flew him to Louisiana that next week for HBOT. This is when Kyle started to eye track more, follow small commands and overall cognitive progress. Dr. Harch told us we would see more progress in the weeks following HBOT, we did. Although kyle is non verbal he began to smile and laugh again.

COSTS: help us cover some of the cost.

•Hyperbaric home chamber: $14,000 (under Dr. Harch’s care)

•Dr. Crawford intensives (functional neurology), Texas: $10,000

•Stem cell therapy, Arizona : $7500-10,000

•MNRI therapy conference, Florida: $6000 per child, $6500 per adult. (will look into a MNRI therapist to compare cost)

•Travel expenses: these cost do not include travel expenses. We will use the additional funds for travel.

To know Kyle is to know that he is the life of any party. Always wanting to try a new hobby from soccer to tai kwon do to music and instruments, etc. He was our busy bee. He loved making new friends everywhere he went, being silly and making everyone around him laugh. We are mourning his laugh and his personality. He deserves a second chance to play again, walk again, run again and the best therapies to help him recover from his injuries.
