Help Kyle Lew represent Team USA in Spain

Hello, my name is Kyle Lew, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected to represent Team USA at the U24 World Ultimate Frisbee Championships in Logroño, Spain this June!

I’ve been playing Ultimate Frisbee for almost nine years, and competing on the world stage has always been a dream of mine. I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity, but the cost to compete is significant, and I’m reaching out to friends, family, and the Ultimate community to help make this dream a reality.

A little about me:

I started playing competitive Ultimate in 8th grade, representing the Bay Area on the U17 team, Aftershock, at the National Youth Club Championships. I continued to play for various high school and youth club teams, and was looking forward to playing my last year at the Youth Club Championships with the U20 team Red Dawn, when the season was abruptly cut short by COVID.

The next year as I entered college at Cal Poly SLO, despite the challenges of COVID, I found a strong community with the Cal Poly team, Slocore. The past four years have been incredible playing on Slocore and being part of a community that values working hard, building relationships, and playing with joy. Last year, as captain, I helped lead the team to a 2nd place finish at the College National Championships (highest placement in program history). As I approach my final season with Slocore, I’m excited to build on last year’s success and continue growing as a player. In addition to Slocore, I played for the elite Bay Area teams San Francisco Revolver and the semi-pro Oakland Spiders, where I have continued to grow while playing at an even higher level.

Off the field, I recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in Statistics and Data Science and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Business Analytics at Cal Poly. I’m passionate about the power of data science and analytics, and I hope to contribute to the future of AI after graduation.

Ultimate Frisbee has given me so much more than just a sport to play. It has introduced me to some of my closest friends, helped me grow as a person, and shaped so many aspects of my life. I’m so grateful for all the teammates, coaches, and supporters who have helped me reach this point, and a special thanks to my parents for their unwavering support throughout my journey.
