We are reaching out as a group of family friends of this incredible family to share something they would never ask for themselves. For many years this family has raised money for people in the exact position they are in now. Showing up for those in need and giving with no expectations in return. Asking for help does not come naturally for them.
In November Kyle spent several days in the hospital after experiencing a dangerously low heart rate, which at the time doctors believed he needed a stent placed. Despite the stent Kyle continued to have episodes at home. His mom took him to DMC and what followed next is every family's worst nightmare. Kyle was transferred by emergency ambulance to UCSF where doctors discovered Kyle had a glioma brain tumor the size of a tennis ball and that the episodes he had been having since November where not due to his heart they were seizures caused by the brain tumor. Kyle had an 8-hour major brain Surgery to remove a tennis ball size glioma tumor Monday January 5th. He is facing significant challenges as his brain tries to heal. He is experiencing difficulty finding words and is unable to recognize his own name most of the time. His doctors are closely monitoring his condition and are performing an EEG to determine whether additional seizure activity may be contributing to his cognitive difficulties.
Because of Kyles health he has been unable to work. His mom has been supporting him entirely, however under these extreme and unexpected circumstances, the emotional, medical, and financial burden has become overwhelming for one person to carry alone. She will manage and navigate all funds raised. Funds raised will go directly to medical bills and essential expenses as she works to support him through recovery.
Those who wish to help can do so through a GoFundMe created to support Kyle's medical care. We ask you if you can help ease some of the medical burdens and offer some much needed support to this incredible family during this incredibly difficult season please do so.
If you are unable to give, the family thanks you for your thoughts and support and ask for continued prayers.
Thank you for uplifting a family who has spent so many years helping others.
With Gratitude
A Family Friend
