Help Kyle and family get through

Donation protected
Kyle Auwaerter is a 44 year old Antrim mom. Her three daughters, Tyler, Hadley, and Quinn are in 2nd, 1st and preK. Kyle grew up in Point Pleasant Beach and went through Antrim school along with her two older brothers, as well as her mother, aunts, uncles, and cousins; most of whom still live in the community.

In May of 2021, Kyle was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia) and was immediately admitted to Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) in NYC for extreme induction chemotherapy and recovery for 35 days. During that time, she was not allowed to visit with her children for risk of infection. It was the hardest time of their lives, but their amazing community came together and offered an incredible form of support to Kyle, her daughters, husband, and parents.

Upon returning home, Kyle’s prognosis was good, she was in remission and her plan included 4 rounds of consolidation chemotherapy; one included a second 21 day stay at MSK housing in NYC, the rest were to be done at home and MSK in Monmouth County. For 5 months, this amazing community continued to support and care for the Auwaerter Family. After her second round of consolidation chemo, her doctor noticed low platelet numbers. Another biopsy was conducted and showed the cancer had come back.

On December 9, 2021, Kyle was notified that she relapsed and would be receiving new chemotherapies to prepare for a bone marrow transplant. If all goes well, Kyle will be admitted back to MSK in NYC on January 31, 2022 for another type of chemotherapy to kill her own bone marrow in preparation to receive healthy bone marrow from one of her older brothers. After the transplant, Kyle will remain in a solitary room at the hospital for an additional 20-30 days to receive more chemotherapy and crucial care from wonderful nurses. When released, Kyle will be transferred to MSK NYC housing and will require round the clock care from family members for an additional 6-8 weeks. During this time, Kyle will have a very fragile immune system, extremely low energy levels and will still be dealing with Graft vs Host Disease; therefore, she will still not be permitted to have her children visit her; they will be apart for 3 months.

After this stay, Kyle will still have a fragile immune system and will not be permitted to return to work, she will require much rest and assistance, and still report to MSK in NYC for weekly monitoring with doctors. In one years’ time, the hope is Kyle will be in remission and can start getting her childhood vaccinations again.

Please donate what you can to help Kyle's family get through the next few months.
