In our respective roles, we have the privilege of supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally as they navigate both challenges throughout their educational journeys.
Today, we are writing to advocate for an exceptional young woman—Kyla Golden. Kyla is a resilient, compassionate, and driven student who has consistently shown remarkable leadership and strength in the face of adversity. She currently serves as the Class of 2025 Senior Class President and a Safe Center Ambassador, where she has led efforts to promote mental wellness, peer support, and community awareness within our school.
Academically, Kyla has excelled and was recently accepted into Savannah State University—an achievement she deeply cherishes and is very excited about. Her hard work has already earned her the CAP Scholarship , and she remains steadfast in her goal of building a more secure and stable future through higher education.
Tragically, during her senior year, Kyla and her family were evicted from their home. We have personally witnessed her navigate this incredibly difficult experience on her own. Due to her mother’s challenges, Kyla has had little to no emotional or logistical support at home. Despite this, she continues to attend school daily, maintain strong academic performance, and serve in leadership roles with grace, responsibility, and purpose.
Kyla’s story is one of courage and perseverance. Her ability to rise above these circumstances and remain committed to her future is nothing short of inspiring.
While her acceptance to Savannah State is a significant step forward, Kyla still faces urgent financial challenges related to daily living and college expenses—such as dorm essentials, transportation, books, and other basic necessities. We are doing all we can within our school community to support her, but we are also reaching out in hopes that the Savannah State Alumni community might extend a hand in helping this incredible student not only arrive at college—but truly thrive there.
Whether through financial sponsorship, donated supplies, mentorship, or simply offering a supportive network, your assistance could make a life-changing difference for Kyla. She is exactly the kind of student who will take full advantage of this opportunity and, in turn, give back with the same passion and leadership she has already shown.
Thank you for taking the time to read Kyla’s story. We would be more than happy to provide any additional information or speak further on her behalf.
