Hi everyone ! My name is Kyla, & I am setting this GoFundMe page for.. myself. I’ve been going back and fourth as to if I wanted to do this but the truth is I need help. I am a mom of an amazing 6 year old & a full time employee at The Fresh Market.
About 3 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Keratoconus & extreme astigmatism in both eyes. Along with pigment dispersion syndrome in one eye. So long story short, I’m having a lot of trouble with my vision. As of right now , I am legally blind in one & close to in my other eye.
** Keratoconus, often referred to as “KC,” is a progressive eye disease in which the cornea weakens and thins over time, causing the development of a cone-like bulge and blurry or distorted vision. KC can result in significant vision loss and may lead to a corneal transplant in severe cases.
** Pigment dispersion syndrome (PDS) happens when the pigment rubs off the back of your iris. The pigment then floats around to other parts of the eye. The tiny bits of pigment can clog your eye's drainage angle. This can cause eye pressure problems.
Unfortunately, Keratoconus is uncurable, but there is a procedure that could hopefully stop or at least slow down the progression & preserve the vision I have left. It’s Called Cornea Crosslinking. After I received the crosslinking procedure, I will have to get scleral lenses.Scleral lenses are hard contact lenses that are fitted to the shape of the eye. It will hopefully help me see a little better as well.
The funds will go towards doctors appointments, the crosslinking procedure & the Scleral lenses mainly. It would also be a great help towards transportation to/from work, school, & doctors appointments since I am unable to drive.
