Hi, my name is Kyla. I’m a single mom of three, and I’ve been doing this alone since 2015. I’ve worked myself to exhaustion over the years — full-time at OU Health plus side jobs — trying to make ends meet is hard as it is… paying for school with these just isn’t possible.

The truth is, I’m at one of the lowest points of my life. I’ve stretched every dollar, switched phone plans, cut every corner, and I still can’t make ends meet. My dream has always been to go back to school and become a nurse, but right now, it feels like everything is stacked against me.

I actually tried college once before, back in 2008–2011, when I was young and not ready. I failed classes and dropped out, and because of that mistake, I can’t get FAFSA or federal aid anymore. That decision from years ago is haunting me now, keeping me from moving forward when I need it most.

The only way I can rebuild eligibility is to pay for my first two semesters completely out of pocket. My kids deserve to see their mom not just survive, but finally succeed. I want to be someone they’re proud of — a mom who fought through rock bottom and built a future anyway.

My goal is $2,500, just enough to cover tuition, books, and fees for this fall semester so I can finally get back into school. Without it, I can’t start at all.

I’m embarrassed to ask for help, but I’m desperate. If you can spare even $5, it would mean the world. And if you can’t, just sharing my story gives me hope.
