Help Me Save My Best Friend Kye

This is Kye. My shadow. My heart. My best friend for the last 14 years.

I never planned on getting a cat. Honestly, I didn’t even like cats. But when I was 21, a few months after the loss of our family dog, a little black kitten climbed my leg at a Craigslist pickup—and chose me.

He’s been choosing me every day since.

Through my darkest years, Kye kept me here. When my mental health was at its lowest, I’d whisper to myself, “When Kye dies, so do I.” But I kept going. I healed. I built a life. I got married. I found joy. And Kye was always there, every step of the way. He’s not just a pet—he is woven into the fabric of who I am.

About two weeks ago, I noticed cloudiness in one of his eyes. It seemed small at first. A trip to the vet led to eye drops and a tentative diagnosis. But something didn’t sit right. He wasn’t eating much. He stopped jumping. Stopped playing. And then… they found the mass.

Kye has been diagnosed with malignant lymphoma, which has spread to his colon, ilium, and kidneys. I’m shattered.

There is one hope: chemotherapy. Some cats do respond. In rare cases, they even go into full remission. We’ve already started treatment—including a targeted enzyme therapy that may help fight his cancer—and I want to give him every chance I possibly can.

But the cost is overwhelming. The diagnostic testing, medications, specialist visits, and chemo have already added up to thousands—and this is just the beginning.

If you've ever had an animal change your life, you understand. If you’ve ever loved a pet like family—like a piece of your soul—you understand.

I’m not asking for a miracle. I’m asking for a chance to fight for one.

Every dollar will go directly to Kye’s treatment. If he responds, if even for a little while, it would mean more time—more kisses, more cuddles, more time with the little black cat who has captured a piece of my soul.

If you can't donate, I totally understand. Sharing helps too. Just please help me fight for him.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for helping me fight for this little black cat, that all those years ago chose me. He saved me. Please help me save him too.

With gratitude and love,
Gavin
