I’m Kalen and Kyan’s father Jared Kulas. I started this GoFund Me to help with Kyan’s aftercare and to help my son’s to maintain their independence. Kyan Kulas is 13 years old and lives in Port Crane, New York. He's currently in the 8th grade at Harpursville Middle School. He loves Pokémon, watching YouTube, and playing Roblox with his sister. He is very funny and has a very witty sense of humor.

Kyan and his brother Kalen (age 14) were both born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare genetic disease that is progressive and affects all the muscles of the body. Kyan recently underwent surgery at Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong Memorial in Rochester, NY.

We are asking for donations to help with Kyan’s aftercare, as well as to help with costs that will keep him and his brother as independent as possible and be able to enjoy life as they get older. Some of the things we are trying to get for Kyan is an electric Hoyer lift to help him transfer from his bed to his wheelchair. Their handicap van is getting older and in need of repair, and the lift on the van is in need of service and repair.

We’re able to keep up so far with the costs of traveling for appointments and other needs, but sometimes it is difficult. Any help with helping Kyan through this difficult time and helping the boys maintain their independence would be so greatly appreciated.
