Aloha,

My name is Kyanna Sugimura & I am a junior at Waimea High School. I am writing to respectfully request your support as I pursue an educational opportunity that will help shape my future career and allow me to give back to my community on the island of Kauaʻi and in the state of Hawaiʻi.

I am honored to share that I have been accepted to attend the National Student Leadership Conference at Virginia Tech in June 2026. This program will provide me with early, hands-on exposure to the field of veterinary medicine and allow me to learn directly from professionals and peers who share my passion for animal care. My long-term goal is to become a veterinarian and return home to Kauaʻi to serve our local community and its animals.

I am a hardworking and dedicated student who consistently strives to do my best both academically and personally. Outside of school, I work part-time at Brick Oven Pizza in Kalaheo. I also volunteer at CJM Stables, where I help care for horses and gain valuable experience working with animals. As the second oldest of seven children, I have learned responsibility, perseverance, and the importance of giving back to others. In my free time, I enjoy spending time at the beach with my family.

The tuition cost for the conference is $4,296.00, which includes meals, lodging, educational materials, hands-on training, and planned educational excursions. Airfare to Virginia is estimated at $1,064.00. The total estimated cost to attend this conference is $5,360.00.

I am humbly requesting any monetary donation to help offset these expenses. Any level of support would be deeply appreciated and would bring me one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a veterinarian.
