Help Kwame become a Scientist

Kwame is the biggest nerd I have ever met. They spend all their time reading, taking free classes online, community organizing, and being a great cat mom. Kwame’s educational path after high school began at New York University, where they were accepted to the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholars program. There, they began an intense study of digital media for social justice. Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of their control, the university abruptly halted her financial aid and she was forced to drop out of school. For the past four years, she has been recovering from a brain injury that affected her mobility, sense of safety, and ability to work. She has powered through homelessness, chronic illness, domestic abuse, and the day-to-day fears of being a Black Disabled Neurodiverse Trans person.
After hundreds of hours of research, Kwame found an educational Boot Camp that fits her needs: High Intensity Learning, Guaranteed Job Placement, a Cutting Edge approach to education, and a Campus walking distance from our home in San Antonio. This Boot Camp, CODEUP, has worked with her to develop a payment plan. While this is incredibly helpful, the school is asking for a deposit that is more than they have in savings.
We are asking the community to open up y’alls wallets to help secure this spot for Kwame to begin college in a week! This opportunity will truly change their life. Kwame deserves an opportunity to hone their coding and data science skills so they can provide for themselves and further supplement the activism work they are currently doing.
Kwame is dedicated to their Black and Trans community, and their goal after completing this program is to help other poor Black folks gain opportunities to better their lives, academically, economically, and spiritually.
Thank you for reading this far! I encourage y’all to donate, even if it is just $5.
