Help Kurt Say Goodbye to his Mother

Donation protected
UPDATE 7/24
We've reached the initial goal of $4500. Thank you to everyone, I didn't expect to even come close to that and was mostly concerned with the plane ticket alone. I've raised the limit in case more people wanted to donate for things my mom may need while she's in hospice. I don't know yet about the things she has and will need, so I'll leave it open. Anything additional from the proceeds following her immediate needs will go towards her comfort and general quality of life, which I will of course be contributing to as well.

Thanks to everyone's kindness, I'll be able to return home. I'm humbled by the expressions of kindness, especially from all of you that I haven't spoken to or seen in close to a decade.

Hi, my name's Kurt. I moved to the states in 2019 chasing higher paying jobs in preparation for the birth of my first child. I haven't been back home to Guam since. My mother suffered a major stroke a few years ago that has since left her disabled and unable to care for herself. My brother has been her sole caretaker since then. I've been without the means to visit her through the entirety of her illness as I am the sole income in a (now) household of four. I recently received the news that after years of stagnant health and virtually no improvement that she had suffered a series of mini-strokes over an undetermined amount of time, which has further exacerbated her health conditions. She is denying further care and being sent home with hospice to begin soon. Necessary legalities aside, the clock is ticking for me to see my mother with what remains of her faculties before the proverbial clock runs out. In a perfect world, I would be able to create my own opportunities to achieve this goal, but I'm just one man holding up a family of my own. So, I am here, asking humbly for assistance in obtaining the means to see my mother one last time while she's still lucid enough to know that I did everything I could to be there, in whatever way I could. Travel to the island costs several thousand dollars to begin with, so every little bit of help goes a long way.

I will be trying my best to come up with everything I can to achieve this myself, but as the years have taught me, even a little can go a long way. I'm not a religious man, but if nothing else, your prayers and the time you spent reading this are a gesture of kindness in and of itself. Thank you.

Everything extra from the proceeds following the travel fare will go directly to purchasing things my mom may need or will help make her more comfortable in the time she has left. I am, at this time, still not entirely certain of my mom's complete financial situation and so, immediate needs are yet undetermined. I will be updating as I get a more complete picture.
