Many of you in IATSE Local 52, cast and crew of the Blacklist, and the larger NYC film community know Kurt Perez as a hardworking knowledgeable technician. You may also know him as the guy on set that you go to share a joke with, find out where to grab lunch on location, or even advice on how to fix your house.
On his way to work Friday, October 11th Kurt was struck by a car breaking both his right arm and leg. The most severe injury was to his leg, where he suffered a tibial plateau fracture. As of now, he needs 3 surgeries. will be in the hospital for the next 10 days. The doctor is hopeful that he Kurt will make a full recovery, but he will be off of his feet for many months.
As you know being a grip in the film industry is very physical work. During this time Kurt will not be able to work, placing great financial stress on him and his family.
We're asking that the film community, Kurt's friends, and acquaintances chip in to help raise 4 months living expenses so that Kurt, Denise, Skylynn and Gavin, can get by.
