Hi, my name is Caitlyn and this is my world, Kuma. Kuma was having sneezing fits and a runny nose only from the left nostril. I thought he was having allergies. As time went on, he sneezed and I saw a big green booger hanging out of his nose. I called my vet to set up an appointment to see if we could get this infection to go away. The vet gave him antibiotics to help with the infection. As weeks passed, he had clear boogers and it looked like the infection went away. I took him back for a follow-up to see why his sneezing fits still did not stop. The vet sent us home with more antibiotics, seeing if a prolonged length of antibiotics would help. Another week went by and still no improvement. The vet called and wanted to schedule an X-ray to see if there was anything in his nose and sent him home with more antibiotics. Kuma went in for his X-ray and I got the call with the findings... I knew when I answered the phone and he started talking, it wasn't good. They found a mass located in his left nasal cavity. He said that they are unsure if it is a cancer lump due to his age. Hearing about him possibly having cancer made my heart drop. Knowing that I want to start right away just in case this takes him away from me. I asked them what the next steps were moving forward. They recommended that we start with a CT to get a better look at what it is and then a rhinoscopy to see it. Unfortunately, they are unable to do the procedure in-house and had to refer us to other vet hospitals. VCA called 2 days later giving an estimate of 8K for the procedure.

UPDATE 9/15/25

Kuma finished his CT scan and it is confirmed that he had a tumor located in his left nasal cavity. The tumor is over 4cm long slowly moving back towards his brain and down his throat. They are going to blind biopsy the tumor to run some test.

UPDATE 9/23/25

Kumas Dr at VCA sent over the CT scans of Kumas skull. he has a follow up appointment in a month to see how much the tumor has grown. I am currently trying to stop it from getting bigger. Trying all these things that I have been recommended before chemotherapy. He will have another CT scan in one month to see how the tumor is doing.

This is only the start of his journey and I wanted to start right away cause I'm not ready for him to leave me.
