Hello from the Timber Strong Team!

My name is Drew Williams, and I’m a junior at Kennesaw State University, studying Construction Management. I have the privilege of serving as the Treasurer for ASCE Technical Competitions and as the Team Lead for our Timber Strong Design Build℠ team.

Our Timber Strong team is a diverse group of students with majors spanning Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management. Together, we’re united by a shared passion for design, sustainability, and construction innovation. The strength of our team lies in our ability to collaborate, leveraging our unique perspectives and skills to solve complex problems.

The Timber Strong Design Build℠ competition is an incredible opportunity for us to gain hands-on experience in designing, modeling, and building a two-story, wood light-framed structure. This competition bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, giving us a taste of structural engineering design, construction management, and building practices. It’s not just a project—it’s a chance for us to grow as future engineers and professionals while working as a tight-knit community.

As exciting as this journey is, participating in the competition comes with its challenges, including travel, materials, and registration costs. That’s where we need your help! Your support will directly fund our efforts to represent Kennesaw State University at the 2025 Student Symposium - this year in Athens, Georgia at the campus of University of Georgia. This allows us to bring our design to life and showcase what we’ve worked so hard to achieve.
