As many of you may know, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of 2024. In March she underwent a double mastectomy. April she began chemotherapy. August she began Radiation and just this month started tri-monthly infusions. Next month she was to start two life saving cancer medications that cost upwards of $13,000 per medication for a 30 day. Going without this medication is not an option and with having 3 major surgeries left and some uncertainties ahead, her journey isn’t over.
Here’s why we need your support.
Up until 9/13/2024, her employer of 20 years was very cooperative allowing her to take FMLA and Short Term Disability during her Chemo and Radiation treatments. About a month ago her employer was purchased by a company in France and that’s when it all started to change. On 9/13/2024 my wife was terminated. Krystie carried the benefits for the whole family, more importantly for herself, her Dr visits and treatments. We are notified that effective 9/30/2024 she (we) will be without benefits for her to continue treatment. Going without treatment is not an option if we are going to beat her cancer and keep it away!
Electing COBRA means an 18 month commitment and the best option since all out of pocket expenses have been met. We have looked at all options. Without my wife’s doctor willing to release her back to work, the added expense of $2400/month is something we cannot afford in our own.
We have exhausted all means of trying to get benefits quicker and COBRA is our only hope. We are asking for anything that will help.
Thank you!!!
