✨ Krystal’s Rehabilitation Update ✨

9/19/2025 We are so excited to share another step forward in Krystal’s recovery journey! After weeks of healing and hard work, Krystal will soon be moving to an acute rehabilitation facility. This next chapter will focus on helping her regain movement on her left side and relearn important day-to-day tasks.

For those who know Krystal best, you know she can’t sit still for long—so the idea of having a structured program filled with training, therapy, and brain “workouts” is something she’s genuinely looking forward to. Her motivation, determination, and positive spirit continue to shine through every challenge.

The ultimate goal is to strengthen her independence and bring her one step closer to returning home with her family. ❤️

Health Update on Krystal

After five long weeks in the ICU, we’re thrilled to share that Krystal is now on the move to a transitional hospital to continue her recovery journey.

As many of you know, Krystal suffered a stroke on the right side of her brain due to a dissection of her carotid artery in her neck. This has caused paralysis on her left side. Following the stroke, the swelling in her brain was so severe that she required a hemi-craniectomy to remove part of her skull. Along the way, she faced additional setbacks, including blood clots and an injury to her trachea during her first tracheostomy. Krystal was put in a medical induced coma to allow the trachea tear to heal. This was a major challenge, but in true Krystal fashion—she fought back with strength and determination avoiding a difficult operation.

We are overjoyed to say that Krystal is now awake and off the ventilator. She just started using a speaking valve on her new trach to communicate. She has been making us laugh, sharing her feelings, and bringing her beautiful spirit back into the room. Seeing her big, bright eyes open and engaging with us again has been such a gift.

Krystal even enjoyed her first visit with a therapy dog(although not her Ivy and Tucker), and she continues to light up when she sees Maddie and Miranda. She’s also made it very clear she’s over the constant cognitive testing questions (and all the coughing that comes with recovery!).

We are so grateful to each and every one of you for the incredible outpouring of love, donations, meals, prayers, and support. Your kindness has carried Krystal and her family through this incredibly difficult time, and we are excited to keep sharing her progress as she continues extensive therapy and healing.
