Many of you may know the story of the homeless woman who called me last week.
I have no idea how she found me, but...
Krystal suddenly found herself homeless. She is a single mother with ** 5 ** children, ranging from 1 to 14 years of age. She is a kind young woman who has never ever had a role model to teach her how to take care of herself.
Up until 5 months ago, she was somehow making ends meet. She had a job at Subway and had gotten trained as a medical home health aid, while working at Subway, intending to make a better life for herself and her kids.
Suddenly, the person she was sharing a house with was evicted, and so was Krystal and her babies. With nowhere to go, she has been relying on the kindness of others, staying in homes on the floor, or worse- sleeping in her friend's van on these hot summer nights.
Then Covid came along and shut down the restaurant she was working in, and she has been completely out of luck. No phone, no child care, no income, no food, nothing.
6 days ago Krystal called me.
I immediately arranged a room at a hotel for her and the kids. I bought them food and clothes, bought her a go-phone, and helped her get on every list for assistance.
GOOD NEWS - today - the shelter called me. They will be able to provide shelter for her for a period of time, and we are trying to get on the list for section 8 housing, but - she needs to come up with $ to put down on her apartment and to get some furniture, clothes for the kids, and food in the refrigerator.
I know I have an amazing community that ALWAYS wants to help. And now I have done the legwork that I am so excited about!! We just need to raise funds for Krystal and get her babies the help they need.
Krystal is such a kind young woman. NO DRUGS. NO ARRESTS. She has just led an unfortunate life because of her circumstances, but she WANTS to live a better life, she just needs someone to believe in her.
Would you please help me do what we can for Krystal?
