​Our dear Krystal Kent was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) on November 3rd. ALS, often known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS is a devastating and rapidly progressing neurodegenerative disease with no cure. The disease attacks the nerve cells (neurons) that control voluntary muscles, leading to loss of mobility, paralysis, difficulty breathing, and progressive loss of speech and swallowing. Krystal's ALS has rapidly progressed and is an advanced state, leaving her paralyzed with only the ability to move her hands and lower arms. Despite this challenging diagnosis, she faces each day with incredible strength, grace, and a fighting spirit. Krystal is a fighter and a beloved member of our community.

​While we remain hopeful, the financial burden of this disease is staggering. We are reaching out to our community for support to cover two critical areas:

​Area 1: Essential Medical and Home Care

​Ongoing Medical Bills: Costs for specialized care, doctor visits, and medications to manage symptoms.

​Adaptive Equipment: Financing crucial equipment like wheelchairs, communication devices, and home modifications necessary for Krystal's safety and quality of life.

​Home Health Aides: Funding for in-home care, which is vital as the disease progresses.

​Area 2: Experimental Research Trips to Seattle, Washington where Krystal has been referred to the University of Washington Medical Research Center, ALS Research department, where she'll participate in experimental nerve conduction therapies and clinical research trials to assist in the search for better treatments and potentially a cure in fight against ALS

We have found hope in promising experimental research and clinical trials being conducted at the University of Washington. These trials offer a potential path to slow the disease's progression and improve Krystal's future. However, the travel, accommodation, and participation fees for these essential trips are substantial and recurring. This fund is dedicated to ensuring Krystal can access this critical, cutting-edge treatment without hesitation.
