In Loving Memory of Jason Barger

Jason Barger, the devoted lifelong partner of Kristyn Nicholson and loving father to their two sons, JJ and Killian, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Jason and Kristyn shared a love story that began with a friendship spanning many years. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship, and they quickly built a beautiful life together in the early/mid 2000s. From that moment on, they were inseparable, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to their family.

Jason worked tirelessly to provide for his family, while Kristyn dedicated herself to raising their boys and creating a loving home. She homeschooled JJ for many years and continues to homeschool Killian, ensuring they received the care, guidance, and support they needed every day. Together, Jason and Kristyn made an incredible team, each contributing in meaningful ways to give their children the best life possible.

Jason’s sudden passing has come as a devastating shock to everyone who knew and loved him. No one could have imagined that his family would be facing such an unimaginable loss.

As Kristyn navigates the heartbreak of losing her life partner, she is also faced with the overwhelming responsibility of caring for their sons and figuring out how to move forward financially. The loss of Jason brings not only profound grief but also many unexpected financial burdens. In addition to funeral expenses and everyday household costs, Kristyn will need to navigate the probate process, which will require legal assistance since they were not legally married. This can be both lengthy and expensive.

JJ and Killian have always been active in sports and music activities that Jason and Kristyn encouraged because it brings their boys so much joy. One of our greatest hopes is that they can continue participating in the activities they love, providing them with some sense of normalcy during this incredibly difficult time.

Many people have reached out asking how they can help. The greatest gift we can offer, beyond our love, prayers, and support, is to help ease some of the financial burden weighing on Kristyn and the boys. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help provide stability as they begin to rebuild their lives and focus on healing.

Jason was the foundation of his family’s financial support. Both he and Kristyn have always been generous, compassionate people who gave selflessly to others whenever they could. Now it’s our opportunity to surround their family with that same kindness and generosity.

Jason would have wanted nothing more than for Kristyn, JJ, and Killian to feel secure and cared for in the days ahead.
